AW2I Chairman appointed as UN GAID Chairman |

 Mr. Talal Abu- Ghazaleh, chairman of the Arab World Internet Institute has been appointed as the Chairman of the Global Alliance for ICT and Development of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA-GAID) to succeed Craig Baret, Intel CEO.
Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh received a letter from the Under-Secretary General of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) HE Sha Zukang inviting him to lead the Alliance, composed of representatives from public, private and civil society sectors as well as international organizations.

Khaled KOUBAA elected as ISOC Board Member |

 The Internet Society ( ISOC ) announced election result for its board seats. Khaled Koubaa, who received the highest number of the votes, has been elected for a three year term.
Khaled Koubaa is the founder of the Arab World Internet Institute.

 The Arab World Internet Institute has been accepted as a Civil Society participant in the UN Global Compact. The GC is a strategic policy initiative for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.

The Supporting Trust Decisions Project |
 The Arab World Internet Institute participate in the the APWG and Carnegie Mellon University’s Supporting Trust Decisions Project. The STD Project goal is to educate consumers on the perils of phishing and how to avoid them. As part of this initiative, we are requesting that instead of disabling phish sites, ISP, registrars, and other infrastructure entities put an HTTP redirect in place of the phishing page at the phishing URL. |

Abu-Ghazaleh Elected as Chairman |

Mr Talal Abu-Ghazaleh was elected as Chairman of Arab World Internet Institute during the founding meeting held recently on the sidelines of the ICT 4 All Forum in Tunisia.
